Usually signifies that either the oven thermostat is at fault or even more likely that the fail safe device (FSD) has failed. If the oven extinguishes the gas immediately you release the thermostat control then the FSD is the main suspect. Contact your local Gas Safe Registered (formally known as CORGI) engineer to check it out for you.
